Tofino Names New CAO
By Westcoaster.ca Staff TOFINO — The District of Tofino has a new chief administrative officer.
Mayor and council announced Wednesday that Braden Smith, the former director of development services and acting chief administrative officer, will become the municipality’s new CAO.
“Braden has demonstrated exemplary professionalism and dedication both in his role as the director of
development services and as acting CAO,” said Mayor John Fraser, in a press release. “We are extremely fortunate to have someone with his qualifications and commitment to this community in the role of CAO.
“I anticipate many exciting improvements in the near future.”
Smith has lived in Tofino for the past five years.
He has worked for the Tofino Housing Corporation and the District of Tofino as its director of development services. He holds a graduate degree in Urban and Rural Planning from Dalhousie University and is a Member of the Canadian Institute of Planners.
Smith was recently appointed acting CAO.
He said he has begun implementing plans to improve service delivery standards and communication
“It is my belief that an informed and engaged community will support positive changes that benefit the community as a whole,” said Smith.
