Wick Inn Makes Top Five of U.S., Canadian Resorts

By Westcoaster.ca Staff TOFINO — The Wickaninnish Inn is one of the top five resorts in Canada and the United States, according to one of North America’s best-known travel magazines.

Travel + Leisure's World's Best Travel Awards 2010 ranked the Wick fourth among all resorts of 40 rooms or more in Canada and the U.S. and the top resort in Canada.

The ranking is based on a readers’ survey and is the fourth time the magazine has recognized the Tofino resort.

"We are delighted to have been chosen once again as the top rated Canadian resort by Travel + Leisure magazine's discerning readers," said Charles McDiarmid, managing director of the Wickaninnish Inn, in a press release.

"Our dedicated service team and our ongoing commitment to quality and constant improvement are the most critical elements of our strong performance over many years. We always aim to create an outstanding guest experience whether it's your first visit or one of many cherished vacations to the Inn and Tofino."

The awards are based on a readership survey.

Readers rate hotels’ and resorts’ facilities, location, service, restaurants, and overall value.

The online survey was conducted between December 2009 and March 2010.

Three other resorts edged out the Wick.

In first place was the San Ysidro Ranch, A Rosewood Resort, in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Second place went to Four Seasons Resort Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and third place went to the Inn at Palmetto Bluff, Bluffton, South Carolina.

The Post Hotel & Spa, Lake Louise, Alta., placed fifth.

The magazine wrote the Wickaninnish Inn is best enjoyed during fierce weather.

“In the 75 rooms, duvet-covered beds and deep soaking tubs sit beside floor-to-ceiling windows that look out on the churning ocean and rain-lashed coast,” wrote the magazine.

The magazine will publish the results in its August issue.
