Abuser Jailed

By David Wiwchar PORT ALBERNI — Twenty-four-year old Domenic Wondolo was sentenced to a year in jail after beating his common-law spouse.

The assault occurred Feb. 27 in the couple's Tenth Avenue apartment.

Police were called by a neighbour who heard a woman calling for help.

Wondolo pled guilty to charges of assault with a weapon, choking to overcome resistance, and unlawful confinement, and sat in the prisoner’s box with his head bowed as Judge Brian Klaver read out his sentence.

Wondolo has been in jail since the assault, leaving almost five months left to serve.

The couple shares a daughter who has been placed in foster care.
