The Westcoaster.ca is the first and only independent online newspaper to serve the Alberni-Clayoquot communities of Port Alberni, Tofino and Ucluelet.
We are not part of any major national or multi-national media chain.
Our publication was born in October 2005 because a handful of local writers, techies and business people believed many stories were going untold in this region.
Since our birth, we have strived to deliver news stories – fair, accurate, well balanced and timely – to residents of the Alberni-Clayoquot free of charge.
We will continue to update our website five days a week, Monday to Friday, or whenever an important news story breaks.
